Dental implants are small, titanium screws secured in the jawbone that replaces the missing root portion of a missing tooth. After it is surgically placed, a dental implant is able to integrate safely in the patient’s jaw due to the biocompatibility of the titanium alloy. After a short healing period, the dental implant becomes an excellent anchor for replacement teeth or dentures.

Dental implants offer numerous advantages when replacing teeth. Unlike a dental bridge, dental implants allow patients to floss and brush easily between teeth... a feature unavailable with dental bridges. Without the need for drilling additional teeth on either side of the missing tooth area, dental implants are considered the most conservative treatment when replacing missing teeth.

At Lovda Family Dental, we take great pride to ensure that dental implants look and feel their best, without the need for a specialist. Utilizing the very latest in CBCT scanning technology that only 15% of dentists have nationwide, Dr. Lovda is able to accurately place dental implants to restore missing teeth or dentures. After a short healing period, Dr. Lovda uses CEREC® technology to fabricate a computer-generated crown to fit on top of the dental implant for maximum aesthetics and function.

Dental Implant Care

Dental implants require daily brushing and flossing to ensure a smile is looking and feeling its best. Much like natural teeth, gum disease and infections can occur around dental implants, shortening their lifespan. Proper home care, such as daily brushing and flossing, as well as visiting our Hoffman Estates dental office for six-month checkups, is critical for maintaining the health and longevity of dental implants.
